DIALOGUE FOR PEACE - The Kashmir Project
The first group of 12 students arrived in Calcutta—from Kashmir—for a week long visit. During their stay they interacted with peers from Chowringhee High School. The programme was a carefully designed mix of a workshop process that we hope they will carry forward within their communities back home—and an exposure to the history, art and culture of the city. It also included a cricket match between the students, a visit to Eden Gardens to watch an IPL match and a meeting with the Governor of West Bengal.

MAPPING COMMUNITIES “When do you feel like you have affected change?”
Affecting change is an extremely empowering feeling. It gives one the courage and the optimism to act, to resist apathy. However, most of us struggle to remember if we have ever been able to really change anything. Even if we have, we probably ask ourselves “was it enough, did it last, could I have done more?”
This month long workshop attempted to create experiences for students where they try to affect change till a point that they are convinced that “yes, I did enough.”

VOICES AGAINST COMMUNALISM
As a part of The International Campaign to Stop Violence against Women and Girls on the 6th of December the Seagull Foundation for the Arts is tying up with Swayam, using the concept of spoken word art to open up “voices against communalism”.
A culmination of a two day workshop, which took the participants through the process of writing on a specific topic with the aim of performing the writing and raising awareness in the larger community.

WHO’S AFRAID OF THE ‘OTHER’?
A three-day art workshop that engaged young people in introspection and understanding of what it means to experience conflict and how one can use creativity to deal with it within the community. The focus of the workshop was on themes of tolerance, empathy and bridging differences between communities. The workshop involved hands-on art-making, interaction and discussion.
